Motorcycle Lubricants

Motorcycle is a two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicle that is steered by a handlebar on the front wheel, which is lightweight, flexible and fast, making it a convenient and fast means of transportation. However, for some historical reasons, the use of motorcycles has been banned in many urban areas in China.

But this can not resist people's love for it, in places where motorcycles are not banned, motorcycles have become a different way of life. Then how to take care of your car on a daily basis is a must learn.

Challenges facing motorcycle oil

Nowadays, passenger car engine oil is heavily used in four-stroke motorcycle engines, but do you know that this is not the right way? There are three main reasons for this outcome: lack of awareness of the technical issues involved, simple logical thinking, and cost.

Passenger car engine oils do not provide optimal performance for four-stroke motorcycle engines. And prolonged use of unsuitable lubricants will shorten the life of the engine as the engine's performance deteriorates under prolonged loads.

Differences between motorcycle and passenger car engines

Motorcycles usually run at 5,000 rpm, much higher than the 1,000 to 2,000 rpm of passenger cars, so the motorcycle's power density is much higher than that of a passenger car, and the pressure on the lubricant is much greater, and the engine's operating conditions are much more stringent and demanding than those of a passenger car.

Such unique working conditions require lubricants to ensure good engine durability, gear durability and fast gearshift feel at extremely high temperatures, while also preventing clutch slippage and improving or maintaining fuel economy. So qualified motorcycle lubricants need to cope with the uniqueness of the motorcycle oil's working environment.

And in a four-stroke motorcycle, the engine, wet clutch and gearbox are all housed in the same unit; whereas in a passenger car, the engine, gearbox and clutch are separate, and the lubricant used in each component is designed for that component's mechanical structure and unique operating conditions.

Although motorcycles are powered by gasoline engines, passenger car engine oils and motorcycle engine oils are not interchangeable. Because of the fundamental differences in engine conditions, motorcycles use specialized engine oils rather than standard passenger car engine oils. Using a four-stroke motorcycle-specific lubricant is the right way to ensure a great driving experience and prolong the life of your equipment.
